What software do you use for visualisation of data?

We provided a list of packages, responses were: not used, occasionally used, frequently use or essential.

Note that we've combined the numbers of people who use each tool, regardless of the frequency of use. Click the graph to see a version where the frequency of use is colour coded.

Observations

  1. The three most often used tools (gnuplot, MATLAB, Jmol) account for 26% of the responses.

Conversely, there is a tail of 31 packages that also accounts for 26% of the responses.

  1. The top four Essential tools (gnuplot, MATLAB, VMD, xmgrace) account for 42% of the responses.
